July 15th Sesquicentennial

Lawrence Lodge #6 was chartered by the Grand Lodge of Kansas on July 14, 1856.  The Lodge plans to celebrate its 150th Anniversary Saturday, July 15th.  We are having a birthday party starting at 11:30 a.m. by serving a luncheon in the Masonic Center at 1601 W. 23rd Street, Suite #203.  Reservations for the meal are needed by July 12th.  The cost of the meal is $5.00.

A short presentation about the history of Lawrence Lodge #6 will be given.  Then we will be entertained by the Lecompton Re-enactors with their play, "Bleeding Kansas" which is about the trials and tribulations in the Kansas Territory in the 1856 era.

We plan to honor 25 and 50 year Masons.  Lodges in the District have been invited to bring their long-time members to be recognized for their service.  M:.W:. Steve Molstad, Grand Master, has been invited to preside over the presentations.  Hopefully, he and his party will be able to attend.

R:.W:. Robert Case, District Deputy Grand Master, has made his spring visitations and extended an invitation to each lodge and solicited their feeling about making the service awards with Lawrence Lodge #6 as the host on July 15th.  There were generally positive reactions.  So, we should have a great event.
